Photo Tiles

Photo tiles are a simple way to display photographs, artwork, branding or signage without using traditional frames.

Printed in full colour onto sturdy 10mm Kappa, they are available in square, rectangle and hexagon shapes. Choose a clean frameless style or selected framed options, depending on the shape and size.

They are ideal for office walls, home décor, staff displays, photo walls, directional signage, gifts, exhibitions and interior graphics.

For other wall display options, take a look at our Acrylic Prints, Photo Posters or Canvas Prints.

What is a photo tile?
A photo tile is a lightweight printed display panel used for photographs, artwork, branding or simple signage. They are ideal for office walls, staff photo displays, gallery-style photo walls, personalised gifts, home décor, signage, meeting room labels, exhibition displays, retail interiors and creative wall features and can be used individually or grouped together.

What material are photo tiles made from?
Photo tiles are made from 10mm Kappa, which is a lightweight display board suitable for indoor use.

What shapes are available?
Photo tiles are available in square, rectangle and hexagon shapes.

Can I mix different shapes together?
Yes. Photo tiles work well as a set. You can combine shapes, sizes and images to create a photo wall, office display, feature wall or themed visual display.

Can I use photo tiles for signage?
Yes. They can be used for lightweight indoor signage, such as room names, staff boards, directional signs, display labels and temporary wall graphics.

Are photo tiles suitable for outdoor use?
No. Photo tiles are best suited to indoor use. For outdoor signage, a more durable material such as Foamex, Correx, aluminium composite or waterproof poster material may be more suitable.

How do I hang photo tiles?
Photo tiles are designed for simple wall display. Adhesive tabs can be used on the back corners of the tile, then pressed firmly onto the wall in the chosen position.

Will adhesive tabs work on every wall?
Adhesive tabs work best on clean, smooth, dry surfaces. Textured, dusty, damp or freshly painted walls may not hold as well, so check the surface before hanging.

Can I print photographs from my phone?
Yes, but the quality depends on the original image. High-quality phone photos can work well, while screenshots, social media downloads and compressed images may look blurry when printed.

What resolution should my images be?
Images should ideally be 300dpi at final printed size. Very low-resolution images may appear soft, blurry or pixelated.

Can I include text on my photo tile?
Yes. If adding text, keep it inside the safe area and use a readable font size. A minimum of 10pt is a sensible guide, but larger text is better for wall displays.

Should I use one image per tile?
One strong image per tile usually gives the cleanest result. Collages can work, but small images may lose impact, especially when viewed from a distance.

What file format should I supply?
Please supply a print-ready PDF. PDF/X-1a is preferred where possible. Fonts should be embedded or converted to outlines.

Do I need bleed and crop marks?
Yes. Include bleed and crop marks on your artwork. Any background colour, photograph or design element that runs to the edge must extend into the bleed area.

Can I design photo tiles in Canva?
Yes. Export your finished artwork as a PDF Print file with crop marks and bleed selected. Canva files are usually RGB, so colours may shift slightly when converted for print.

Will colours print exactly as they look on screen?
Not always. Screens use RGB colour, while print uses CMYK. Some colour variation is normal, especially with bright colours, Pantones, spot colours or RGB artwork.

Can SM1 check my artwork before print?
Yes. We can check supplied artwork and flag obvious issues such as low resolution, missing bleed, incorrect sizing or text too close to the edge. If your file needs design work or correction, we can quote for artwork support.
